Julia Kaufmann has been working as a freelance consultant with small, voluntary organisations, specialising in governance, strategic planning and project development since 2000.
She is currently Chair of Whizz Kidz (the charity for non-mobile children), Vice President of Deaf-Fax, a trustee of Community Network and of the EDF Energy Trust and a member of the Charities Aid Foundation Grants Advisory Council.
Previously, Julia was a part-time commissioner at Postcomm (the postal services regulator), Senior Consultant to Partners in Evaluation, the first Chief Executive of the BBC Children in Need appeal and the first Director of Gingerbread (the association for one-parent families).
She was awarded an OBE for services to charity in 1997.
