Support providers

We want to improve support and will continue to make a case to government and other funders about the need for sustainable investment.

Improving support

We believe that investment in support services is the best way to create a sustainable and effective third sector and will build the evidence to demonstrate that objective.

Our funding programmes are limited, so we cannot reach all support services.  But we use our grant programmes strategically to stimulate improvements, increase understanding of what works and to lever in other funds.

Securing sustainable funding

We understand that short term funding is an ongoing frustration in the sector.  We are pleased that the government has now made a commitment to three-year funding rounds as this means that we can now create longer term funding programmes.

Working together

There has been lots of excellent partnership working as part of the ChangeUp programme, but we are aware that support providers want better information about gaps in current provision.  We are working on ways to improve information sharing and moving forward, we will look at much closer collaboration.

Promoting best practice

We have a key role to play in helping support providers share learning and expertise.  We are developing practical mechanisms for gathering and disseminating examples of best practice in support provision, such as peer review and case studies.
