Government and funders

We are asking both central and local government to increase their investment in support services.

Working with the public sector

With their strong links to communities, their diversity and their commitment to positive social outcomes, third sector organisations are ideally positioned to work with local and central government.  They can easily identify community needs and get involved in planning joined-up delivery of public services.

Existing partnerships

Some organisations are working effectively in partnership with local authorities through the Compact and local area agreements, but many are frustrated and feel the sector would benefit from even better representation and strategic involvement with the public sector.

Increasing voice

Third sector organisations are ideally positioned to reach socially excluded people and provide a legitimate and vital voice for their interests and concerns.

Investing in community

The third sector plays a vital role in our society.  It already contributes over £55 billion to the UK economy and employs in excess of 1 million people and coordinates the efforts of millions of volunteers every year.

Third sector organisations offer essential services to individuals and communities in needs, enabling them to become involved in their own localities and living communities.

The value of support

We believe the best way to create a healthy, vibrant third sector is through the development of high quality, sustainable support services for frontline organisations.

We are working to increase access to support services and raise awareness with frontline charities and community groups about the benefits of organisational development.
